| How Old Pine Farm determines beef prices The most economical way to purchase quality meat is by buying in bulk; that is by the quarter, half, or whole. Our weight ranges and prices are approximate only. The final weight and price will vary with size of the animal. The average Old Pine Farm whole beef is 1000 to 1300lbs. live weight; our typical hanging weight is 500-750lbs. The final price reflects meat that has been slaughtered, cut, wrapped and frozen. Steer Price/lb hanging weight is $3.00 Humane Slaughter Fee is $70/steer or $20/quarter Cutting and Wrapping Fee is .30/lb Hanging Weight An average carcass will hang at about 600lbs (subtract 30 percent when going from live weight to hanging weight), and then subtract the loss from hanging weight to finished packaged weight (another 30%). The average finished product on 600 lb hanging weight will cost about $4.80/lb-or- $512.50/quarter. Our cattle are pastured on approximately 50 acres of pasture throughout the spring, summer and fall. We are not a CAFO, we do not use feedlots, and do not finish on grain.
